Trischka to deliver key address at IBMA’s World of Bluegrass

The International Bluegrass Music Association has selected banjo stylist Tony Trischka to deliver the keynote address for World of Bluegrass 2007.Trischka will deliver his take on the state of the Bluegrass Union during an Oct. 1 dinner at the Renaissance Hotel Grand Ballroom in Nashville, Tenn. The event runs from 6:30-8 p.m.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be asked to give the keynote address this year,” Trischka said in a statement on the IBMA Web site. “After playing and listening to bluegrass and it’s off-shoots for the last 45 years, I greatly look forward to sharing my thoughts and perspectives about the music I love so much.”

Besides his role as a leader among progressive bluegrass musicians, Trishka is a gifted banjo instructor and author of numerous books and instructional materials. He has been featured in instructional DVDs. Trischka is a 40-year veteran of the industry, both in recording and concert work. He’s generally regarded as a key figure in bringing in a new wave of disciples into the realms of banjo and acoustic music.
