Grascals, Crowe headline Ohio festival
Top bluegrass acts have been booked for this year’s Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festival Nov. 16 and 17 at the Roberts Convention Centre in Wilmington, Ohio. It’s actually Vol. 2 of the event, which each year also holds festivals in March as well as November.
Peforming over the two days will be the Grascals, J.D. Crowe and the New South, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Alecia Nugent, David Peterson and 1946, the James King Band and Newfound Road.
New this year is an expanded seating area. Door prizes, raffle prizes, an instrument check for those musicians in attendance, a designated jamming area and various vendors offer value-added extras to all attendees in a smoke-and alcohol free environment.
The festival is also offering a banjo workshop with Charlie Cushman and Joe Mullins, as well as a workshop in songwriting, music and memories. Mullins is festival producer and manager of Classic Country Radio, WBZI AM 1500, WKFI AM 1090 and WEDI AM 1130, which will serve as media host for the event.
The Roberts Centre is located 12 miles south of Xenia, and 5 miles north of Wilmington at the intersection of US 68 and I-71, exit 50. It is less than an hour drive from Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus. The Centre includes a Holiday Inn hotel, Max and Erma’s Restaurant, and RV parking.
Tickets are on sale now for advance purchases online or via phone for both reserved and general admission seating. Advance ticket sales end Tuesday, Nov. 13th , at 5 p.m.
