The Grammy® awards for bluegrass, folk and gospel categories were announced earlier this evening at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. A listing of those winners is below.

Best Bluegrass Album

  • The Bluegrass Diaries” Jim Lauderdale (Yep Roc)

Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album

  • Salt of the Earth” Ricky Skaggs & The Whites. (Skaggs Family Records)

Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals

  • Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)” Robert Plant & Alison Krauss (Rounder Records)

Best Traditional Folk Album

  • Dirt Farmer” Levon Helm (Dirt Farmer Music/Vanguard Records)

Best Country Album

  • These Days” - Vince Gill with John Anderson, Guy Clarke, Rodney Crowell, Diana Krall & The Del McCoury Band as featured artists. Vince Gill, John Hobbs & Justin Niebank, producers. Neal Cappellino & Justin Niebank engineers / mixers. Adam Ayan, mastering engineer - (MCA Nashville)

On Saturday Feb 9th, the Academy also presented Earl Scruggs with a Special Merit Award in recognition of his immense contributions to the music community at large and for his innovative 3-finger banjo style.

“The spirit of traditional Americana was also present at the ceremony. The video tribute to bluegrass pioneer Earl Scruggs illustrated his history-making invention of the three-finger picking style on the banjo. Accompanied by his sons, a typically unassuming Scruggs said that it was a real pleasure being there with friends and family.”Grammy® Website
