XM’s “Studio Special Series” kicks off new season

XM Satellite Radio’s Bluegrass Junction will feature some of your favorite bluegrass artists on the new season of “The Studio Special Series,” a program that features an hour of exclusive, live music and conversation with bluegrass music’s top bands in XM’s Nashville studio. Artists will play live selections from their current albums, older tunes, and sometimes, songs they’ve never recorded or even performed anywhere before.

The Studio Special Series is hosted by Kyle Cantrell and can be heard on Bluegrass Junction (XM channel 14) or DirecTV channel 812 on Friday mornings at 8 AM EST with several encore times (listed below) the rest of the week.

Carolina Road Homecoming Festival happening March 28-29

The always “Hard Drivin’” Lorraine Jordan and Carolina Road along with Blue Circle Records will be hosting the Carolina Road Homecoming Bluegrass festival in Burlington, North Carolina on March 28 and 29. The event will take place at the Ramada Inn, located at 2703 Ramada Road in Burlington, NC 27215 (exit 143 off I-40).

Friday’s opening ceremony will kick off at 11:30 with the first scheduled band at noon. Friday’s lineup includes, David Davis and the Warrior River Boys, Anita Fisher featuring Ray Deaton, Deeper Shade of Blue, Remington Ryde, Blue ‘no’ More, Boys From Carolina, Grass Street, Carolina Junction and Al Batten & Bluegrass Reunion.

Saturday, the music gets underway at noon and will feature Crossroads, Red and Donna, Chris Jobe, Constant Change, Junior Sisk and Ramblers Choice, Carolina Sonshine, the Fritts Family, Al Batten & Bluegrass Reunion, Grass Cats and the James King Band.

The Ramada Inn will have a large room available for workshops and open jam sessions and also features two restaurants onsite and is located within 1 mile of North Carolina’s largest outlet mall.
