After spending a lifetime in bluegrass with his dad’s band, Bob Paisley, Dan Paisley is suddenly hot property in the bluegrass world. He and his band of long-time musical cohorts are up for Vocal Group of the Year at this year’s IBMA awards show.

A lot of the new energy is coming from the band’s new Rounder Records CD, “The Room Over Mine,” Paisley’s first offering for the label. He and his band play dead-on, traditional bluegrass spiced with a touch of country soul, a recipe that’s proving to be a success for his new CD.

Following Paisley’s strong vocal lead, the group’s hard-driving concerts have also won the favor of critics and fans.

Southern Grass consists mainly of musicians who have spent much of their careers playing first, with the late Bob Paisley and now, with son Dan. Members include brother Michael Paisley on bass, fiddler T.J. Lundy, his brother Bobby Lundy on banjo and Donny Eldreth Jr. on mandolin.
