No surprise, this one: Dailey & Vincent garnering an International Bluegrass Music Association finalist nomination for Entertainer of the Year. It’s one of 10 IBMA awards the duo and their band are up for this year.
The buzz about bluegrass’s new duo was already sizzling long before they made their debut performance last Dec. 29 at the Grand Ole Opry and then hit the road for the first time on Jan. 5. Both Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent had held prominent roles for several years with other contemporary high-profile bands — Dailey with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver and Vincent with Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder.
The expectations and anticipation that these two would take the bluegrass world by storm has since panned out. Their one and only self-titled CD on Rounder Records was sitting are at the top of the Bluegrass Unlimited National Record Survey albums chart for August, marking the third consecutive month they have been at #1 with their self-titled debut. On Billboards Top Bluegrass Albums chart, the CD is ranked No. 5 and has been in the top 5 for 16 of the 24 weeks since its release. All the while, the recording tops the XM Bluegrass Junction Top 40 Albums chart in July , as well as the Top 30 Tracks chart with Sweet Carrie. Besides reeling in the 10 IBMA finalist nominations, the group is up for Inspirational Bluegrass Artist of the year at the 14th annual Inspirational Country Music Award Show to be held on Oct. 16.
Members of the band are Dailey on guitar; Vincent on bass, Jeff Parker on mandolin; Joe Dean on banjo, guitar and mandolin; and Adam Haynes on fiddle.
