Packing a recording contract with its ink still wet, Sonja Isaacs is in contention for the Female Vocalist of the Year Award from the International Bluegrass Music Association.

Disney Music Publishing/Nashville signed Isaacs to its songwriter roster in late August. The development signals yet another milestone for Isaacs, whose performing career has bounced around the genre map, from bluegrass to gospel to contemporary country.

She is well known for her role with her family’s band, The Isaacs, a role Isaacs has taken since the age of 3. She plays mandolin and sings lead vocals with the Isaacs, who have won numerous Dove awards and captured a Grammy nomination.

Her country music career includes her longtime affiliation with Vince Gill, who produced one of her albums on the Lyric Street Records label. She also has toured with Gill and sang on albums with numerous bluegrass, country and pop artists, including Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, Marty Raybon, Brad Paisley, Rhonda Vincent, Ty Herndon, The Crabb Family, Trisha Yearwood, Alecia Nugent, Alabama and Paul Simon.
