Burlington, MA — Alison Krauss was nominated by the Country Music Association for two CMA Awards in the categories of Female Vocalist of the Year and for Musical Event of the Year with Robert Plant (a first-time CMA Award nominee) for their single “Gone, Gone, Gone (Done Moved On)” off their CD Raising Sand. Krauss has been nominated in the category of Female Vocalist of the Year three out of the last four years. The nominations follow Krauss’ latest CD releases A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection (Rounder Records) and Raising Sand (Rounder Records).

The 2008 Country Music Awards will be broadcast live Wednesday, November 12 (8:00-11:00 PM/EST) on the ABC Television Network from the Sommet Center in Nashville.

Krauss’ new DVD A Hundred Miles or More: Live From The Tracking Room will be released on November 11, the day before the Country Music Awards ceremony, and features Krauss, one of the purest and most original voices in American music, performing songs from her critically acclaimed solo album, A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection with members of her highly-regarded band, Union Station, and special guest musicians. Originally taped as a GAC television special, (which just won a 2008 Silver Telly Award), this DVD is set in a recording studio and offers an intimate look at how Krauss works in the studio environment. It features memorable duets with country superstar Brad Paisley, legendary singer/songwriter James Taylor, British rocker John Waite, and an infectious take on “Sawing on the Strings” with one of Krauss’ longtime idols, Tony Rice. Among the highlights of the DVD is Krauss’ duet with Brad Paisley on “Whiskey Lullaby,” which won CMA Song of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year honors in 2005. It also features the duet “Lay Down Beside Me,” on which Krauss teams up with John Waite, her 2003 Grammy®-winning collaboration with James Taylor on “How’s the World Treating You?” (a country music classic first recorded by the Louvin Brothers in 1961), and the newly recorded, previously unreleased, “Shadows” gleaned from Tony Rice’s catalog and featuring him on guitar.

A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection, released April 3, 2007 is comprised of 16 tracks, highlighting Krauss’ career outside of her traditional releases with long time band Union Station. The album features Krauss’ collaboration with John Waite on the single, “Missing You,” which also appears on Waite’s recent Rounder release Downtown….Journey of a Heart. A Hundred Miles or More features Krauss’ contributions to film soundtracks including the Oscar® nominated songs, “The Scarlet Tide” and “You Will Be My Ain True Love,” written for the motion picture Cold Mountain and “Down to the River to Pray” from the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? Known for her collaborations, Krauss also includes several duets in the collection such as the 2003 hit with Brad Paisley, “Whiskey Lullaby,” and her duet with James Taylor for the tribute album Livin’, Lovin’, Losin’: Songs of The Louvin Brothers, “How’s the World Treating You.” The collection debuts five new songs—“You’re Just a Country Boy,” “Jacob’s Dream,” “Simple Love,” “Lay Down Beside Me,” and “Away Down the River” all of which feature Krauss as a producer.

Raising Sand, released October 23, 2007 is an astonishing collaboration with two of the most distinctive vocalists in modern music - Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. The platinum selling, critically acclaimed album was produced by T Bone Burnett and recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles with a stellar cast of supporting musicians, including guitarists Marc Ribot and Norman Blake, multi-instrumentalist Mike Seeger, drummer Jay Bellerose, and bassist Dennis Crouch. The album puts the two great singers in a variety of vocal and instrumental combinations – from songs featuring two-part brother-style harmony throughout to solo features for each. Plant and Krauss won a 2008 Grammy® for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for “Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)” off Raising Sand and they will be heading back out on the third leg of their Raising Sand Tour on September 23.
