The “Dare to Be Different” showcase kicks off an exciting World of Bluegrass week for the group as they step up to the stage as one of the official World of Bluegrass showcase bands on Tues., Sept. 30 at 10:35 p.m. at The Renaissance Hotel in downtown Nashville. The band will also perform on the Blue Circle Stage at 11:45 p.m.

Along with performances from Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike and Charlie Louvin, specials guests at the “Dare to be Different” Showcase will include Lorraine Jordain and Carolina Road, Canada’s hot young sibling group The Abrams Brothers, The Soul Pickers and many more. Performances begin at 1 p.m. with Emily Singleton and Cumberland Plateau and will continue well into the evening.

Smith, along with bandmate and singer/songwriter Becky Buller, will be celebrating the recent release of their first female duet album, Here’s a Little Song, on Bell Buckle Records. The album’s harmony style vocals stem from Smith & Buller’s love of the highly popular brother harmonies of the past. Female duets are far and few between and this album only enhances an exciting partnership that Smith & Buller have developed over their time performing together with Liberty Pike.

Guests on Here’s a Little Song include the multi-Grammy, Dove and IBMA award-winning Alan O’Bryant and Mike Compton from the Nashville Bluegrass Band; the 2007 IBMA “Female Vocalist of the Year” Dale Ann Bradley; multi-IBMA award winner Wayne Benson of IIIrd Tyme Out; Kristin Scott Benson of the Larry Stephenson Band and Larry Cordle and Lonesome Standard Time; and Justin Carbone of Special Consensus. They are also joined here by their fellow Liberty Pike members Chad Graves and Bobby Davis.

Valerie Smith & Becky Buller can also be found on the brand new album, Bluegrass Bouquet, on Blue Circle Records, a follow up to the highly acclaimed Daughters of Bluegrass CD that won 2006 IBMA Recorded Event of the Year Award.

Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike consists of lead singer and band leader Valerie Smith, Becky Buller on vocal, fiddle, Clawhammer Banjo, guitar and as a principal songwriter in the group, Bobby Davis on bass and fiddle, Chad Graves on Resophonic guitar and vocals, and Eric Lambert on Guitar and Mandolin.
