Adam Steffey is seeking his sixth Mandolin Player of the Year Award next month from the International Bluegrass Music Association.
Steffey started on the national bluegrass circuit in 1987 as a member of the Lonesome River Band. He left to form his own group, but soon became acquainted with a young fiddle player and vocalist by the name of Alison Krauss. He became a member of her group Union Station, where he stayed for several years.
After a three-year stint with The Isaacs, Steffey joined the high-energy band Mountain Heart and continued with the group for more than six years.
He’s now joined the his old friend and Union Station bandmate, Dan Tyminski, in The Dan Tyminski Band. A Grammy Award winner, Steffey also maintains a busy schedule of recording studio work.
