Danny Paisley, who grew up listening to his father’ music, is hoping to pick up a 2008 IBMA Male Vocalist award. Paisley’s life was filled with music by the likes of Reno and Smiley, Bill Monroe, as well as many other classic bluegrass groups. Paisley’s other major influences include country legends George Jones and Vern Gosdin, and are evident in his voice.
Danny Paisley played with the Southern Mountain Boys and his father before starting the band Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass. Their first album, The Room Over Mine, on Rounder Records has been received with critical acclaim. Danny’s voice has a traditional country and bluegrass style that is both unique and fresh in today’s bluegrass.
