“Look Down That Lonesome Road” - Tim O’Brien from the Transatlantic Sessions 3:
Tim O’Brien is past recipient of the IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year in 1993 and 2006 and is in contention for another this year. In addition to being one of bluegrass’ best known singers, O’Brien is also an accomplished guitar, fiddle, mando-cello, and mandolin player.
O’Brien has played and sang with countless artists. He was one of the co-founders of Hot Rize, the legendary group that brought a fresh and new look to bluegrass. Hot Rize also brought out Tim O’Brien’s alter ego, with the group Red Knuckles and the Trailblazers.
Hot Rize was the recipient of the first IBMA Entertainer of the Year Award. Hot Rize disbanded in 1990, and Tim O’Brien has been working the scene either solo or with guest since the early 1990’s. Tim has several albums to his credit, and continues to be a driving force in many styles of music.
