McCoury Music club offers concert downloads

The McCoury Music Club is alive and pickin’.

It’s a new venture by bluegrass veteran Del McCoury, his family band and his label, McCoury Music. And, by McCoury Music’s own description, it’s “new territory.”

In a nutshell, here’s what the club’s about: Members, who pay $100 dues a year, will receive one live show by The Del McCoury Band, to download each month.

Dailey & Vincent with Bill Cody on GAC’s “Edge of Country”

Nashville, Tenn. — Rounder Records duo Dailey & Vincent, who took home an unprecedented seven International Bluegrass Music Awards, including Entertainer of the Year, met up with GAC host Bill Cody for a taping of GAC’s “Edge of Country” featuring this year’s IBMA award recipients and the Americana Music Association Honors and Awards winners. This special episode of “Edge of Country” airs today, Friday, October 31, at 5:00 p.m. (eastern), and will re-air on Friday, December 5 at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 7, at 11:00 p.m., and Monday, December 8, at 3:00 a.m.

Vince Gill packs light for unplugged shows

Country superstar Vince Gill, who continues to revive his bluegrass roots in his music these days, is going unplugged and pared down.

Gill is starting a tour of Western venues that will last through mid-November, and he’s definitely traveling light, with only a three-piece supporting group — Pete Wasner, Billy Thomas and Mike Bubb. Stops along the way will not include large stadiums or similar venues; Gill is picking small theaters and clubs for this itinerary.

Guitarist Bull Harmon suffers heart attack

St. Louis area flat-picking giant Bull Harmon is recovering from a heart attack he suffered last Sunday at his home.

According to his wife Tammy, who also plays bass in Harmon’s band Bull’s Eye, doctors discovered “two critical blocked arteries in his heart.” A medical team placed two stents in the blocked vessels.
