After nearly 4 years on the road with The Gibson Brothers, Rick Hayes, the groups mandolin player has left the group. According to Hayes’ web site, Rick will be putting in “some extra time making his mandolins and guitars for now. Everyone involved is comfortable with the decision.”

In addition to building mandolins and guitars, Hayes also runs Hayes Productions Recording Studios that is “particularly well suited for singer/songwriters and artists looking to put out a solo CD.”

Rick Hayes has left the band after almost four years with the Gibson Brothers. Rick wears a lot of hats, and I’m sure he will be concentrating heavily on his mandolin and guitar building as well as his studio. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him pop up on the bluegrass trail before long either. We befriended Rick and his wife Lyn years ago when he and his brother hired us to do a show in Covington, KY, at Hayes Brothers Music. We got along great and would hang out every year at IBMA. We knew he had a studio and played music, but we had no idea he played mandolin. When Marc MacGlashan left, Rick called and asked for a tryout on mandolin. We hired him and he did a fine job for us. We logged a lot of miles together. We wish him well. Eric Gibson – The Gibson Brothers

The Gibson Brothers will be on tour during the later part of this month.
