Franklin, KY — Major changes are in store in 2009 for the Franklin (Ky.) Bluegrass Festival.
Williams & Clark Expedition, which has been the festival’s host band and co-producer since the event’s debut event in 2004, is now the sole producer of the festival.
And the festival is headed to a new, permanent home — the Bluegrass Music RV Park, just off Interstate 55 in Franklin.
“The owners of the Bluegrass Music RV park were so excited to be given the opportunity to have the event at their location, they agreed to build an 18,000-square-foot covered pavilion and have also purchased additional land to accommodate the growing crowd,” according to Kimberly Williams Clark of the Williams & Clark band.
“The facilities are first-class and feature indoor bathrooms with hot showers, a clubhouse with grocery store, a swimming pool and on-site laundry facilities,” Williams Clark added. ” Most all campsites are pull-through and can accommodate RVs of most any size.”
Camping reservations are now being taken for the 2009 festival, which will be held Sept. 11 and 12.
The Franklin Days Inn, within walking distance of the festival grounds, is also taking reservations for that weekend. The motel, an official sponsor of the bluegrass festival, offers special rates for attendees.
In addition to the Williams & Clark Expedition, performers already booked for the 2009 weekend include:
- Rhonda Vincent & The Rage
- Lonesome River Band
- Grasstowne
- Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper
- The Dillards
- Connie Smith
- Nothin’ Fancy
- Next Best Thing
- The Bluegrass Brothers
