The Lawsons– that’s Kellard and Melva — along with guest Larry Cordle can be heard on the single, “I Heard My Mother Call My Name In Prayer”, from their new CD on Prime Cuts of Bluegrass, Vol.95.

The CD, “Shout It From The Highest Hill,” is scheduled to release in January on the Kindred Records label.

With plans to return to the festival circuit in 2009, the new recording has the aura of a festival homecoming with guests Ralph Stanley, David Parmley, Dale Perry, Larry Cordle, Charlie Sizemore and Marty Raybon.

Band members on the CD include Paul Smith, Mike Jackson, Joe Jackson and Randy Stiltner.

The new project was recorded at Maggard Sound studios in Big Stone Gap, Va., by Jim Price and Alan Maggard.

Residing in their native Kentucky, The Lawsons have performed at many venues, from Bean Blossom to Rupp Arena, hosted their own festival in Paintsville, Ky., at Doc Turner’s Farm and shared stages with Bill Monroe, Loretta Lynn, Lester Flatt, Ralph Stanley, Jimmie Skinner, Doc Watson and others.

The Lawsons are currently looking for more dates to fill their calendar for 2009 festival season. Details are available at their new Web site, www.thelawsonsband.com, or their Kindred Records artist link at www.kindredrecords.com.thelawsons.htm.
