Music historian Peter Guralnick: lecture on Col. Tom Parker at Country Hall of Fame

Nashville, Tenn., — This year marks the late Colonel Tom Parker’s hundredth birth anniversary. To honor the revolutionary music business figure, who served as Elvis Presley’s longtime manager, esteemed author and music historian Peter Guralnick will present a special lecture at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum on Saturday, April 18, at 1:30 p.m. The program, which will take place in the Museum’s Ford Theater, is included with Museum admission and free to Museum members. Immediately following the program, Guralnick will sign copies of his books in the Museum Store (visit the Museum’s Web site for signing details).

Hotel reservations are open for 2009 World of Bluegrass

The International Bluegrass Music Association apparently likes early birds — or at the least, the organization hopes there are plenty of them out there in bluegrass land.

IBMA issued a press release this week reminding folks to begin making hotel reservations for the 2009 World of Bluegrass in Nashville, Tenn.
