We have just learned that Ralph Stanley has canceled his scheduled appearance at the Granada Theater in Dallas on Friday night, April 10. No reason for his cancellation was given, but the cancellation notice has been posted on the Granada website….

The Hillside Album Hour is one of MerleFest’s newest traditions! MerleFest fans got a big kick out of last year’s Led Zep II tribute performed by the Waybacks, John Cowan, and a host of superb bluegrass musicians.

This year, they’re plotting another surprise classic rock tribute, to be performed on Saturday April 25th on the Hillside Stage at 5:00 p.m….

Davey Johnson, well known in bluegrass circles in central Illinois and central Florida, died today (Thursday, April 2) in Florida, where he spent the winter months with his wife Dorothy.

Johnson, retired from Caterpillar, Inc., in Peoria, spent a bulk of his retirement years pursuing one of his favorite, lifelong passions: Bluegrass music.

Johnson performed for several years with Bluegrass Purrferred, the Stone County Ramblers and several other Illinois groups….
