Indianapolis to host Midwest Mandolin Festival

The fifth annual Midwest Mandolin Festival, presented by the Mandolin Society of Central Indiana, will be held on Saturday, June 6, from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Indianapolis’s Eagle Creek Park on the Marina Stage.
The event will include a variety of music, all centered around the mandolin, including old time, traditional, jazz, blues, contemporary, Celtic, progressive, orchestrated, and bluegrass music by regional performing artists.
In case of rain, the festival will be held indoors at the Earth Discovery Center in the park.
The event will also include mandolin workshops, one beginner level, taught by Jon Hall and Myra Dworski, and one intermediate to advanced level, taught by Jim Richter.
The workshops are free with paid admission to the park, which is $5 per vehicle.

- The Sloes (Progressive acoustic)
- Slates Family Band (Down home music served up family style)
- il Troubadore (Indy’s 16th century rock band)
- Mike Butler and the Yank Rachell Tribute Band (Blues)
- Mark Kurkowski and Mario Joven (Jazz)
- Norman Conquest (Mandolin ensemble specializing in ethnic music)
