Blake Williams honored during Lester Flatt celebration

Sparta, Tennessee, home of bluegrass legend Lester Flatt, celebrated the icon’s memory with a special event on the city’s square on Saturday, May 23rd. During the day-long event, a special presentation took place that honored several of the city’s bluegrass legends including Blake Williams of Williams & Clark Expedition.

In 2007 the Tennessee State Legislature declared the 4th Saturday in May to be “Official Bluegrass Day in Tennessee” and in keeping with the branding of Sparta, Tennessee as…

Bluegrass Underground sets June, July shows

Cherryholmes and Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper will perform at 2 p.m. June 6 at bluegrass’s most unusual venue, Bluegrass Underground in the World Famous Cumberland Caverns near McMinnville, Tenn.

That show will be a prelude to the Underground’s first annual Fourth of July celebration, observing the birth of America, but also the 53rd year Cumberland Caverns has been a show cave….

Violin Shop to launch ‘Wednesday Night Fiddlin’”

Wednesday Night Fiddlin’” is a new feature coming to The Violin Shop in Nashville, Tenn.

The shop, at 220 Old Hickory Boulevard, has gained fame in recent years for its Fiddle Masters Concert Series DVDs. It’s also the preferred outlet for sales, repairs and instrument set-up for many top fiddlers in bluegrass and country music….

Dailey & Vincent film video for “On The Other Side”

Workshops to bridge California bluegrass events

Grass Valley, Calif. — The Mandolin Cafe is sponsoring an evening concert and series of workshops on June 17 connecting a break between the California Bluegrass Association Music Camp (June 14-17) and Father’s Day Festival (June 18-21).

This is the second year the Mandolin Cafe has partnered with the California association to present this special event.
