Special Consensus "Signs" (Pinecastle)

Special Consensus will perform a special hometown release concert celebrating their new Pinecastle Records CD, Signs, at Fitzgeralds in Berwyn, Ill, a Chicago suburb, on May 30. The band will perform from 7 to 9 p.m.

Advance ticket sales are available through www.ticketweb.com.

Pinecastle Records is offering a free download of “Gone to Carolina,” one of the CD’s singles, on its Web site. To obtain a copy, go to www.pinecastle.com and click “Giveaway.”

Meanwhile, Chicago-based Special C is enjoying some early success with the new album. It’s at No. 6 on the Bluegrass Music Profiles chart and No. 28 on the Roots Music Report.

Band members include leader Greg Cahill on banjo; Ashby Frank on mandolin; Justin Carbone on guitar and bass player David Thomas.
