Jim Hurst
Jim Hurst, the much lauded guitarist with the Claire Lynch Band, has started offering guitar lessons over the internet via webcam. All that is required for the online lessons is a webcam, broadband internet connection and a chat program.
According to a recent newsletter, Hurst is offering intermediate and advanced lessons in flatpicking or fingerstyle guitar.
“Yep, I have begun to offer online lessons via webcam for victims , er, clients who have the same, and broadband or other high speed internet. I have had an opportunity to learn in setting the thing up, but I can accommodate most any internet chat e-mail program such as Gmail, MSN Messenger, AOL AIM, or Skype. I can look into other options for anyone interested.
Send me an e-mail to: JimHurstLessons@gmail.com and I’ll work to get you set-up and signed-up. Flatpicking or fingerstyle. Intermediate or advanced. I can do beginner, but normally shy away from it, and highly recommend getting one on one instruction for those folks. Lessons from your computer cam to mine… it works and is fun.”
Hurst on latest “Flatpicking Bluegrass” project
Jim Hurst also participated in the latest Flatpicking Guitar Magazine recording “Flatpicking Bluegrass” contributing his vocal and instrumental talents with the old Bill Monroe cut “When the Golden Leaves Begin to Fall.” The CD is available for purchase on Hurst’s web site.
“There is a core band that recorded the tracks and then the guitarists added their efforts. I sang and played guitar and banjo on my version of Bill Monroe’s “When the Golden Leaves Begin to Fall”. You can listen to a sample of my cut on my website CD Store.”
