Casey Driessen performs a looped version of Billie Jean. “While teaching at Mark O’Connor’s Fiddle Camp, we got the word that MJ (Michael Jackson) was gone (yes, even at fiddle camp). I worked up this version to pay tribute to MJ in my concert the following night.”

Casey Driessen with Matt Mangano and Tomm Giampietro will be featured Wednesday (July 15) at Hot Fiddle Nights at the Violin Shop in Nashville, Tenn.

The show starts at 8 p.m. with general admission seating at $10 each. The show will be an hour long, followed by a “meet and greet” and a jam session.

Driessen, a Minnesota native who grew up in the Chicago area, is a graduate of the Berklee School of Music. He’s performed as a sideman for Béla Fleck, The Sparrow Quartet, Tim O’Brien, Darrell Scott, Steve Earle and Frank Vignola.

He also has his own group, The Colorfools, and has a solo album, entitled 3D, on the Sugar Hill label.

Other peformers booked for Hot Fiddle Nights include Stuart Duncan on July 29, Tania Elizabeth on Aug. 12 and Aubrey Haynie on Aug. 26.

The Violin Shop is located at 220 Old Hickory Blvd. in Nashville. It can be reached at 615-662-1570 or http://www.theviolinshop.com
