Music Industry News

TuneCore is now contributing content to the Nokia Corporation’s new online Nokia Music Store and Nokia Comes With Music, allowing the world’s largest distributor of digital music to widen its international reach with music available in 21 countries (see sidebar) as of August 27, 2009.

By partnering with TuneCore, Nokia Music Store customers will have access to music by industry heavyweights such as Aretha Franklin, Jay-Z, Beck, and Nine Inch Nails, as well as thousands of other independent releases. TuneCore currently delivers content globally to iTunes US, iTunes Canada, iTunes Europe, iTunes Japan, iTunes Australia/New Zealand, eMusic, Rhapsody and others.

Nokia Comes With Music will provide every customer (in selected countries) who purchases a Nokia phone a free one-year subscription for unlimited music downloads via the Nokia Music Store – yet another opportunity for TuneCore artists to broaden their fan-base on a global scale.

About TuneCore:

TuneCore is a low, flat fee service that distributes music to major download and streaming sites while taking no rights and no revenue from the sale of the music. Artists are building careers, selling significant volumes of music and generating revenue through TuneCore. Since its launch in 2006, TuneCore has distributed tens of thousands of albums and millions of songs to iTunes and other digital stores by Grammy winners and unsigned artists alike.

In addition to those mentioned above, TuneCore artists include Drake, Keith Richards, Public Enemy, Ricky Skaggs, Paul Westerberg, MGM Studios, Warren G, Bjork, Moby, High School Musical cast members, Ali Lohan, Cirque Du Soleil, and tens of thousands more. TuneCore currently distributes between 150 – 250 release a day (more music is released in one day via TuneCore than any major record label over a year) and recently expanded its offering to distribute full-length films, TV shows, live concerts, documentaries etc to iTunes and more.
