Nashville, Tenn., — Bluegrass hipsters Missy Raines & The New Hip are ready to stir up the musical offerings during their official Americana Music Festival Showcase in Nashville, Tenn. this weekend. Raines and her entourage will play a 10:00 p.m. set at Mercy Lounge, One Cannery Row (just off 8th), on Saturday. September 19.

Missy Raines, the 2007 IBMA’s Bass Player of the Year, a current  nominee again and former member of the Claire Lynch Band has set out on her own with Missy Raines & The New Hip. Raines aimed to “make a longtime dream come true; creating a fusing of bluegrass virtuosity, jazz-tinged groove and a song-driven sensibility with a hot band,” according to her website.

If the artwork the band put together promoting the Americana Music Festival showcase rings true (and I suspect it will), expect a memorable night of acoustic musical stew as Raines and company deliver a set of tunes imbued with the ingredients of a breadth of musical genre’s and influences.

Missy Raines & The New Hip’s latest CD titled “Inside Out” (Compass Records) can be sampled on their site. You can also keep up with Missy & The New Hip on twitter
