Friends of Warner Parks have announced the final Full Moon Pickin’ Party of 2009 on Friday, October 2nd. This fundraiser features Middle Tennessee’s finest bluegrass music from 7:00 – 11:00 p.m. under the light of a full moon. All of the monies raised from this laid-back affair will go directly back into the Parks to ensure preservation, protection, funding educational programs and special projects including camp-outs and hayrides for inner city kids.
Musicians and music fans alike are invited to join in at the Steeplechase Barn at the Equestrian Center (2500 Old Hickory Blvd.) in Percy Warner Park on October 2nd for a night of great music.
The final event of the season will be a special tribute to the award winning mandolin player, Butch Baldassari. Baldassari created new interest in the mandolin in a wide variety of musical genres. He was an inspiration to people who loved his music and who knew him as a friend. He performed and recorded with many of the top names in bluegrass, Celtic, and other genres. Butch Baldassari was also instrumental in the start up and success of the Full Moon Pickin’ Parties since 2001.
The music for the evening will feature an eclectic ensemble of musicians honoring the life and work of Baldassari. Performers include Kathy Chiavola, Sharon Cort & New River Ranch, Matt Combs and others.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door with children 6 and under free and $10 for 7-15 year olds. Pickers with a bluegrass instrument can get in for $5.
Tickets may be purchased online at www.Nowplayingnashville.com (There is a surcharge for online ticketing) or by cash/check in the Friends of Warner Parks of office or by mail. The event is rain or shine.
