Patty Loveless "Mountain Soul II"
The trail has gone cold since the 2001 release of Mountain Soul, a collection of bluegrass covers by one-time country music hot property Patty Loveless.
But Loveless is picking up where she left off eight years ago with the release of Mountain Soul II. Kind of. The second version doesn’t mimic the original with entirely bluegrass covers. Loveless turns to the variety kettle on Mountain Soul II with a mix of traditional bluegrass, some country classics and even some original material.
Like the first recording, Emory Gordy Jr. (aka Mr. Patty Loveless) returns in his role of producer.
Guest artists also crowd the tracks, from Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Del and Ronnie McCoury, to Rob Ickes and Stuart Duncan.
