If you’re a banjo picker and want to mix a little pleasure with pleasure, The Banjo Cruise may just fit the bill.
Promoted by BanjoTeacher.com, the six-night cruise departs from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Jan. 24. It will feature banjo instruction by Tony Trischka, Ross Nickerson, Rick Briggs and The Carter Brothers.
The cruise will offer workshops and classes when the boat is at sea. This way the workshops will not conflict with the ship’s itinerary and the ports visited , leaving plenty of time for fun with spouses and friends.
The curriculum will include banjo workshops for beginner, intermediate and advanced banjo students. Rooms will be made available for night jamming — and you don’t even have to bring your own banjo. Instruments will be available for rent.
Tailored instruction and private mentoring will be available.
The cruise will be aboard the Carnival’s Freedom. From Fort Lauderdale, the ship will set sail for Key West, to Grand Caymon and then Ocho Rios.
All students must book through the specified travel agent to take part in the workshops.
