Bass Strummit with Jason Moore, Mike Conner and Jerry Fretwell.

Jason Moore of Mountain Heart will be the featured instructor for Bass Strummit, an upright bass instruction workshop geared towards all levels of aspiring bassists from beginners to advanced players. Joining Moore will be bassist Mike Conner of Sandy Ridge and Jerry Fretwell of Fretwell Bass who will give a bass care and repair clinic offering advice on repair, set up, and general care for your instrument.

The workshop takes place at Mill Mountain Theater Atelier in Roanoke, VA on January 2nd, 2010 and will feature six hours of instruction. Bass Strummit will offer advice and instruction on “pulling” tone, left & right hand technique, timing (front, top, and back beats), percussion licks on the fretboard, pick-ups and amplifiers, practice tips, pre-playing exercises, tasteful backup, and “less is more” theory.

Overnight accommodations available in the Atelier are available for both Friday & Saturday nights (Jan 1st & 2nd, 2010). They must be booked and paid in advance along with class tuition fee. Rooms are very limited, and will be booked first come, first served.

All students attending the workshop will receive a set of Helicore 3/4 Medium Tension Double Bass Strings, a $200 dollar value,  from D’Addario who is sponsoring the workshop.
