It’s arrived: Cloud of Dust, the first studio recording from veteran bluegrass group Chris Jones & the Night Drivers in more than 10 years.
Chris Jones & the Night Drivers, made up of Ned Luberecki on banjo, Jon Weisberger on bass, Mark Stoffel on mandolin, and Aaron Till on fiddle, with, of course, Chris Jones providing lead vocals and acoustic guitar, have been touring in support of Cloud of Dust.
Although many in the bluegrass crowd know Jones as a deejay on Sirius Satellite Radio, he is no newcomer to the musical spotlight. He has performed and recorded with some of the world’s most respected musicians, including The Chieftains (he was featured on their 2003 U.S. tour), Earl Scruggs, Vassar Clements, Lynn Morris Band, April Verch Band, the McCarters and the award-winning quartet Weary Hearts..
Most recently, he appeared in the PBS series The Appalachians as a both a performer and commentator.
Jones holds a Broadcaster Of The Year trophy from the International Bluegrass Music Association for his work on Sirius. He also owns a Song Of The Year trophy for co-writing “Fork In The Road,” the title track of an Album Of The Year winner by the Infamous Stringdusters. The double-barrelled achievement marked the first time in IBMA’s history that a single person has won honors for both musical and non-musical accomplishments.
