Nashville, Tenn., — Come ring in the New Year with a down home hoe-down and Donna the Buffalo at the Loveless Barn on Thursday, December 31, 2009. They will be bringing their trademark hybrid of folk, reggae, Cajun, zydeco, rock and country. The band played for the venue’s grand opening in January 2009 and is excited to be back celebrating New Year’s!
Opening for the evening is the Josh Williams Band. On October 1st at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, as part of the IBMA’s twentieth annual Awards Show, Josh Williams was presented the 2009 Guitar Player of the Year award! Also performing are good friends The Believers; duo Cyd Frazzini (acoustic guitar) and Craig Aspen (mandolin, electric guitar and harmonica) have supported DtB during the fall West Coast tour and a plethora of shows since. The two bands have clearly created a mutual-admiration society, with Aspen calling the headliners “our favorite band in the world.” Also expect other special guests to be announced soon.
Guests can expect light hors d’oeuvres, champagne, hats, noisemakers, and a late-night Loveless Cafe brunch buffet at the stroke of midnight complete with an omelet bar, fried chicken, black eye’d peas and all the fixins. The barn doors swing open at 7:30 p.m. with the first act taking the stage at 8:30 p.m.
Donna the Buffalo’s had a successful year thus far; Tara Nevins and Jeb Puryear have, after all these years, started playing shows as a duo and the herd is lovin’ it. Nevins. has toured with Bill Kreutzman’s BK3; the band’s recorded a few new songs including one with Jim Lauderdale. They’ll be closing out the Year with a New Year Eve Celebration at the Loveless Barn in Nashville.
On the horizon for the new year you can expect more new music to be recorded, many more collaborations, a new solo album from Tara Nevins in March, shows with Little Feat, and also 2010 marks the 20 year anniversary of the GrassRoots Festival which they started in Ithaca, NY.
