Has Wichita Rutherford, the self-proclaimed “Mayor of Bluegrass” and XM Radio personality, got a deal for you! Perhaps, it’s the bluegrass fanatic’s ultimate stocking stuffer.
Rutherford has teamed up with hot picker and singer Ricky Skaggs and bottled up Skaggs’ G-run. It’s for sale on eBay — all for a good cause.
Here’s the item description: “You’re bidding on a one of a kind item. Ricky’s G-Run in a Mason jar! The one and only Wichita Rutherford, the mayor of Bluegrass & the host of 5 Minutes with Wichita on Sirius/XM, captured this G-Run from the guitar of the legendary Ricky Skaggs! Ricky signed the back of a guitar string package & they sealed the jar quickly to lock in that fresh Bluegrass sound.”
Hmmm, sounds like a deal! And for World Vision, which will receive every dime of the sale’s profits, it surely is a good deal.
World Vision is a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty. The organization serves the world’s poor, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender.
Rutherford describes himself as “THE world-renowned Podcast celebrity.” He is recognized as a pioneer of the Podcasting movement and continues to push the envelope with his cutting edge, innovative digital content.
“I want to educate people about bluegrass, get them interested in it,” Rutherford says on his Web site. “No matter what kind of music they like, no matter where they’re from, or what they’re background or age is. Bluegrass is for everybody.”
He’s been affiliated with several Podcasts and satellite radio shows, including his flagship five-minute Podcast interview show, “5 Minutes With Wichita,” and “Wichita Rutherford’s GrooveGrass Show” (30 minutes) and “Nothing New Here with Wichita Rutherford” (one hour).
These shows were designed to educate people about the history of Bluegrass, Rutherford says. His “5 Minutes With Wichita” interviews are heard on 256 radio stations in the United States and 11 other countries in Europe, Asia, South America and the Middle East every week.
XM is now Wichita’s Satellite Radio home after his two-year run on SIRIUS and his new show “The Grand Old Time Machine” has an unprecedented fan base.
The auction can be found on Ebay
The sale runs through Dec. 21.
