Inspired by the 1930s pairing of Stephane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt, Hot Jazz finds fiddler extraordinaire Mark O’Connor and his band Hot Swing joining with popular French guitarist Dorado Schmitt of the Django Reinhardt Festival for a January 16th concert at The Kennedy Center in the Terrace Theater.
Celebrate the historic 1930s pairing of jazz legends Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli in this sensational concert guaranteed to sell out, with a unique, all-star double bill. Returning to the Kennedy Center are celebrated guitarist Dorado Schmitt and artists from the Django Reinhardt Festival, who open the concert with their authentic Gypsy swing, marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of Reinhardt. The second half marks the 102nd anniversary of the birth of violinist Stephane Grappelli with Mark O’Connor, performing with his band Hot Swing. The concert closes with a rousing finale featuring both groups recreating the 1930s heyday of Reinhardt and Grappelli’s Quintet of the Hot Club of France.
