Song of the Mountains announces initial 2010 season lineup

Marion-VA — Song of the Mountains, the nationally syndicated Public Television Concert Series taped at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia has an exciting lineup of notable musicians scheduled for 2010.

“We are starting our 6th season of tapings,” states Joe Ellis, executive director of the television show. “We have aired 60 episodes on Public TV since 2005 and by spring of this year we will have 24 additional one hour episodes we taped in 2009 being distributed through NETA to outlets across the United States.”

Song of the Mountains reaches more than 62 million people across America and is shown on more that 170 Public Television outlets throughout the nation. The concert series is also seen in Canada. Concerts are taped once a month in front of a live audience at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion. “We find that 90 percent of our audience members are from outside of Smyth County, Virginia. Many of them are from different states and at every concert we have several folks from other countries in our audience.” says Ellis.

The series is hosted by musician and broadcaster Tim White. Song of the Mountains highlights bluegrass, old time, Celtic, gospel, country and Americana music. All concerts begin at 7:00 pm.

    • The Celtic music of Vinny Ringrose.

Other dates scheduled for 2010 are August 7, September 4, October 2, November 6, and December 18, 2010.
