Rural Rhythm Records is pleased to announce Michael Martin Murphey lands in two spots today on Billboard Magazine’s™ TOP 50 Bluegrass Chart: #15 “Buckaroo Blue Grass II – Riding Song” released February 9th; and at #22, the Grammy® nominated “Buckaroo Blue Grass” which also appears in the #1 spot on the Roots Music Bluegrass Report.

Both Michael Martin Murphey and his son, Ryan Murphey, certainly set the tone with the original “Buckaroo Blue Grass” with its appeal to a wide range of music fans – blending bluegrass, country, cowboy, roots and Americana music with the drive and energy Murphey has become known for. “Buckaroo Blue Grass II – Riding Song,” continues the journey.

The label is also proud to announce that Michael Martin Murphey, the 2009 Texas Music Award’s Entertainer of the Year, has just been nominated for that honor again, along with Ryan Murphey receiving the nomination for Producer of the Year for “Buckaroo Blue Grass.” Winners will be announced at the 8th Annual Texas Music Awards show on May 15, 2010 in Marshall, hosted by B. J. Thomas.

Michael Martin Murphey and Ryan Murphey will be featured performers with Leroy Parnell during an evening live broadcast and internet stream on KGSR- 93.3 (www.kgsr.com) March 5th, 2010 from the legendary “Saxon Pub” in Austin, Texas (where Michael got his start) during the Texas Heritage Songwriter Awards Weekend, March 5-7th. The Texas Heritage Songwriter Awards Hall of Fame Inductee Reception will be held March 6th at the Bob Bullock Museum of Texas History, and the Texas Heritage Songwriter Hall of Fame Induction is on Sunday, March 7th at the Paramount Theater. Michael Martin Murphey was inducted into the Texas Songwriter Hall of Fame with Willie Nelson, Guy Clark and Alan Shamblin in 2009.
