The Bartley Brothers

The Bartley Brothers Biography

Rural Rhythm Records recording artists, The Bartley Brothers, have a long history in Bluegrass and Acoustic Music. They begin their journey as a brother duo with great enthusiasm and are set to release their debut recording for Rural Rhythm Records. They will offer a blend of original songs and some traditional numbers as well, which will be fast-paced, entertaining, well rehearsed, and polished. The primary focus of the band is its great harmony vocals and songs of home and real life.

Rick Bartley
Rick Bartley, on guitar and lead and harmony vocals, began his journey in music at a young age learning to play old-time claw-hammer banjo from his grandfather and then began learning the three finger Scruggs style.

The Bartley Brothers’ Band:

Brandon Godman ( fiddle): Brandon, though still a young man, is already a veteran of some of the top names in Bluegrass. He began his career working with IBMA Hall of Honor Member, Melvin Goins. He then moved on to play with such artists as, The Wildwood Valley Boys, Karl Shiflett, David Peterson and 1946, IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year Dale Ann Bradley, and in 2008 hired on as the full-time fiddler with Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. The Bartley Brothers are proud to have Brandon onboard.

Josh Hymer (banjo): Josh is another eastern Kentucky boy. He began his career in Bluegrasss music at the age of 16 playing banjo for Billie Renee and Cumberland Gap and has since went on to play with acts such as Dave Carroll and New River Line, and Ernie Thacker and Route 23. Josh is one of those banjo players that other banjo players love. He is from the Scruggs school of playing and drive, taste, timing, and tone are his calling card. We are sure will enjoy what he brings to The Bartley Brother’s show.

Jayd Raines(bass, tenor vocals):  Jayd grew up in the hot bed of Bluegrass in Eastern Kentucky. He began working in local bands around the Clay City, Kentucky area, but it did not take long for his talent to be recognized by one of the great singers of our time, Marty Raybon. Marty hired Jayd as his bass player and tenor singer and Jayd has been with Marty for the last two years. The Bartley Brothers are thrilled to have such a great singer to join Rick and Shayne in what has to be one of the best trios in the business.
