<p>Fresh off the success of his acclaimed album <em>Feel That Fire</em>, <a title="Dierks Bentley in the news" href="http://www.bluegrassjournal.com/tag/dierks-bentley/">Dierks Bentley</a> has announced the summer release of the acoustic, roots-based <em>Up On The Ridge</em>. The album will feature Bentley working with some of the finest acoustic musicians in the world, including long-time collaborators the Del McCoury Band and a magical new musical partnership with Chris Thile and the Punch Brothers. The disc also features a number of vocal and instrumental contributions ranging from Alison Krauss and Miranda Lambert to Tim O’Brien and Sam Bush, among many others.   The project found Bentley working with award-winning singer/songwriter/producer Jon Randall Stewart and world-class recording engineer Gary Paczosa</p>
<p>“I’ve played a lot of cool venues and festivals, but taking this new album to MerleFest is one of the things I’m looking forward to the most,” said <a title="Dierks Bentley in the news" href="http://www.bluegrassjournal.com/tag/dierks-bentley/">Bentley</a>. “I’ll definitely be out there in the crowd like everyone else soaking it all in.”</p>
<p>After selling 5 million copies of his first four studio albums, topping the charts with seven No. one hits including “Sideways,” “Free &amp; Easy” and “What Was I Thinkin’?,” making countless national media appearances, taking home multiple CMA and ACM awards and racking up seven GRAMMY nominations, country star <a title="Dierks Bentley in the news" href="http://www.bluegrassjournal.com/tag/dierks-bentley/">Dierks Bentley</a> has spent the first months of 2010 in the studio working on multiple exciting projects for the upcoming year.  The roaddog has headlined multiple arena tours and opened for some of country music’s biggest superstars, and is now heading full-force into his newly announced “Up On The Ridge” tour.</p>
<p><a title="Joey + Rory in the news" href="http://www.bluegrassjournal.com/tag/joey-rory/">Joey + Rory</a>, the husband-wife duo of Joey Martin and Rory Feek, are nominated for this year’s ACM Top Vocal Duo and Top New Vocal Duo.  They are currently on tour with and serving as emcees for Grammy-winning Zac Brown Band’s Breaking Southern Ground Tour, which will take the stage on Thursday, April 29, at MerleFest. Their sophomore release, Album #2, will come out this spring.  It was produced by Grammy<sup>®</sup>-winning Carl Jackson, who also produced their debut album.</p>
<p>Their debut single, &#8220;Cheater Cheater,&#8221; was not only their first Top 30 hit at country radio, but it also became a nationwide Top 10 Dance Club hit. The single peaked at #3 on the iTunes Top Country Album Chart with over 400,000 downloads.   Their debut album, <em>The Life of a Song</em>, debuted at #10 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart and remained on the charts for 50 weeks, selling 200,000 copies.  Last year, they were nominated for ACM’s Top Vocal Duo, CMA Vocal Duo of the Year and CMT’s Nationwide Insurance On Your Side Award and toured coast-to-coast and overseas with an appearance at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival. They continue to be featured in a number of national TV commercials for Overstock.com.</p>

<p>Enterprise Ala., &#8212; The <a title="BamaJam in the news" href="http://www.bluegrassjournal.com/tag/bamajam/">BamaJam Music &amp; Arts Festival</a> has announced the addition of Bluegrass favorites,  <a title="The Grascals in the news" href="http://www.bluegrassjournal.com/tag/the-grascals/">The Grascals</a> to the lineup for the June  festival.</p>
<p>The festival also welcomes one of Billboard Magazine&#8217;s “100 Greatest Singers of All Time”, the founding member of The Allman Brothers Band and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, Gregg Allman. Joining the event for the first time is Buddy Guy, who is one of the greatest blues guitarist and singers who has been an inspiration to Jimmy Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Stevie Ray Vaughn and many other guitarists. He is also a member of the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Grammy Award winner and CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, Gretchen Wilson is the perfect addition to the already rockin’ country acts set to perform.</p>
<p>Other country acts joining Wilson include country rock singer Stoney LaRue; Austin, TX, based singer/songwriter Robert Earl Keen; Alabama native and favorite, The Wayne Mills Band and Texas country band Rio Grande. The festival is staying true to the concept of a country music festival with a mix of rock, jazz and alternative with the revolutionary New Orleans brass group, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band; alternative rock, singer songwriter, Citizen Cope; punk and country infused rock band, Lucero and bluegrass band, The Wells.</p>
<p><a title="BamaJam music festival in the news" href="http://www.bluegrassjournal.com/tag/bamajam/">BamaJam Music and Arts festival</a> takes place on June 3, 4, and 5th, 2010 in Enterprise, AL. The organization will bring their <em>Energy FACTory</em> initiative to the festival for the third time with the <em>High Plains Mixer</em> which will feature popular electronic DJs remixing country music’s greatest hits. The High Plains Mixer will be powered by the <em>Cattle Drive</em> where festival goers can win music, VIP passes, Stagecoach merchandise and more as they help power the sets by running on hamster wheels, riding bikes, turning hand cranks and riding seesaws, among other things. Look for the deejay line-up to be announced closer to the festival.</p>

<p>The organization will also return with their <em>TRASHed::Art of Recycling</em> featuring redesigned recycling bins. As part of a contest sponsored by <a title="Global Inheritance in the news" href="http://www.bluegrassjournal.com/tag/global-inheritance/">Global Inheritance</a>, in conjunction with festival organizer Goldenvoice, artists have been invited to submit their artwork, redesigned recycle bin concept and/or website to be considered to design one of the 20 recycling bins featured at both Coachella and Stagecoach. The redesigned bins will also be placed in Los Angeles School District after the festival to inspire the future recyclers of the world.</p>
<p>In the past, <a title="Global Inheritance in the news" href="http://www.bluegrassjournal.com/tag/global-inheritance/">Global Inheritance</a> has brought several other unique initiatives to the Stagecoach Festival including 18 &amp; Up featuring tricked out alternative energy golf carts powered by wind, solar, biodiesel, ethanol, and liquid petroleum gas, and redesigned to represent a popular musician or band from Paul McCartney to The Cure; Operation Bullseye reused paper products found within the venue and festival attendees were able to engineer flying apparatuses and test their aim on a bull-shaped bullseye to win prizes; and the Energy FACTory Clock Tower&#8211;a 45 ft. tall wind-powered clock stationed at the main entrance of the the festival.</p>
