Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper on Bluegrass Junction’s Studio Special on XM Radio
Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, the International Bluegrass Music Association’s reigning “Instrumental Group Of The Year”, are celebrating their 2008 IBMA nominations with a “Studio Special” live performance on XM Radio’s Bluegrass Junction (Channel 14) this week.
Fronted by IBMA’s “Fiddle Player of the Year”, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper visited with Kyle Cantrell, host of XM Radio’s “Studio Special” and performed music from their debut CD on Rounder Records, Leavin’ Town, released earlier this summer. IBMA “Banjo Player of the Year” nominee Kristen Scott Benson, also joined the band for this very special performance.
Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper have had a banner year since the release of Leavin’ Town that has included a very busy touring schedule (including performances across the United States and in Europe), and the announcement of nominations in several categories by the IBMA including “Instrumental Group Of The Year”, Marshall Wilborn for “Bass Player Of The Year” and Michael Cleveland for “Fiddle Player Of The Year”.

Nashville, Tenn. — XM Radio’s Bluegrass Junction will air a special “Track By Track” with Williams & Clark Expedition beginning July 30th at 3:00pm(Eastern). The show features the band’s new project on Acoustiblue Records, “Brand New Set Of Blues” in it’s entirety along with an in-depth interview with Expedition band members Blake & Kimberly Williams, Wayne Southards and Bobby Clark.
XM Radio’s Bluegrass Junction programmer and “Track By Track” host Kyle Cantrell stated, “As good as the songs are, and as nice as the harmonies may be, what really knocks me out about this project is the instrumental work. For my money, they’ve never sounded better. Of course, the vocals are really fine. You’re going to love this new CD!”

XM Satellite Radio’s Bluegrass Junction will feature some of your favorite bluegrass artists on the new season of “The Studio Special Series,” a program that features an hour of exclusive, live music and conversation with bluegrass music’s top bands in XM’s Nashville studio. Artists will play live selections from their current albums, older tunes, and sometimes, songs they’ve never recorded or even performed anywhere before.
The Studio Special Series is hosted by Kyle Cantrell and can be heard on Bluegrass Junction (XM channel 14) or DirecTV channel 812 on Friday mornings at 8 AM EST with several encore times (listed below) the rest of the week.
