Nashville’s prestigious The Violin Shop has alerted BluegrassJournal.com to a family in need and some friends who are trying to help meet all those needs.

Alison Krauss & Union Station along with Cherryholmes and other notable Bluegrass artists will be playing an August 4th benefit for Nashville based luthier Chris Fontaine at the Wildhorse Saloon.
Fontaine, who works as a luthier and bow repairman at Williams Fine Violins on Music Row, has a rare form of cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma….

Bowling Green, Ky. – The world’s first International Newgrass Festival will take place August 21-23, 2009 at Ballance MotoX on the Historic Ballance Farms just north of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Headlining the three-day festival will be the surviving members of the band that started it all, the original New Grass Revival. Sam Bush, John Cowan and Curtis Burch will each perform with their new bands alongside many newgrass performers who have followed in their footsteps….

Pickin’ in the Panhandle: The West Virginia State BBQ & Bluegrass Festival has announced the concert lineup for this year’s two-day festival, set for Sept. 12-13 in Back Creek Valley, near Martinsburg, W. Va., about a hour from Washington, D.C.
The Charlie Daniels Band will be the featured guest star of Pickin’ 2009, which is sponsored by the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau….
