European artist Niko treads on bluegrass

His name doesn’t conjure up visions of Kentucky hills, Carolina pines or East Tennessee cabins, but international recording artist Niko Papasideris has his eye on bluegrass.

Papasideris, who now lives in Nashville but continues to have a large European fan base, is currently recording his fifth album, an as-yet-untitled collection of newgrass remixes of new and previously released Niko material. Nothin’ Fancy’s gospel CD now in stores

SPBGMA’s 2008 Emerging Artist Of the Year, Nothin’ Fancy, this week released its first all-gospel CD, Lord Bless This House.

The album features 12 tracks ranging from originals to Bill Withers’ R&B classic “Lean On Me” to the traditional country gospel song “Peace In The Valley.”

Pinecastle gives updates on Nothin’ Fancy, Grasstowne

Nothin’ Fancy’s first all- gospel project will be released Tuesday.

Produced by brother and sister Rhonda and Darrin Vincent, the album features guest appearances by the two producers as well as Cody Kilby. The title track, “Lord Bless This House,” as well as “God’s Heavenly Shore” are originals written for the album by lead singer and mandolin player Mike Andes.

Kristin Scott Benson’s new banjo CD hits shelves

Second Season, Kristin Scott Benson’s second solo album, will be released today, January 13, on the Pinecastle Records label.

It’s milestone No. 3 in just a few short months. In October, she was named the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Banjo Player of the Year for 2008. A month later, she became a member of two-time IBMA Entertainers of the Year, The Grascals.
