Dailey & Vincent debut at #4 on Bluegrass Unlimited Album Chart
Nashville, Tenn. — Dailey & Vincent have debuted at #4 on the Bluegrass Unlimited National Bluegrass Survey album chart in the April 2008 issue with their self-titled album on Rounder Records. At the same time, the critically acclaimed disc has spent its seventh week in the top 5 on Billboard’s Top Bluegrass Albums chart, where it debuted at #2. On the Bluegrass Music Profiles Top 10 Bluegrass CD’s chart for April, Dailey & Vincent is at #2, and on the XM Bluegrass Junction Top 40 albums, it moves to #3 on the April chart (representing airplay during the month of March).
“By the Mark,” performed in brother duo style with only guitar and mandolin accompaniment, was a 4-week #1 on the Count Down Yonder Weekly Top 17 Songs of SIRIUS Bluegrass. In Bluegrass Unlimited, the track is at #28 on the song chart, while on the Bluegrass Music Profiles Top 20 Hot Singles for April, it is at #13. “Sweet Carrie” is another favorite track receiving healthy airplay, landing it this month at #10 on the XM Bluegrass Junction Top 30 Tracks chart, #12 on the Bluegrass Music Profiles Top 20 Hot Singles chart, and #17 on the Bluegrass Unlimited song chart.
This week Dailey & Vincent also earned Robert K. Oermann’s DISCovery Award in Music Row, where he wrote: “The woods used to be full of duo-led bluegrass bands. But The Osborne Brothers, Reno & Smiley, Jim & Jesse, The Stanley Brothers and Flatt & Scruggs are now all history. Dailey & Vincent have stepped into those legendary shoes. And they wear them very, very well.”
Nick Cristiano of the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote in a recent review of Dailey & Vincent, “Together, they carve out their own niche in the field with this bracing debut.”
Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent make their second guest appearance on the Grand Ole Opry on Friday, April 25. On April 26 they will join the Bill Gaither & The Homecoming Friends concert at Gwinnett Center Arena in Duluth, Georgia. No commentsRounder Artists score Superfecta on billboard chart
Burlington, MA – Rounder Recording artist’s currently hold the top four slots on the Billboard bluegrass albums chart with Rhonda Vincent’s Good Thing Going at #1, Blue Highway’s Through The Window Of A Train at #2, and the self-titled albums from Dailey & Vincent and The SteelDrivers at #3 and #4 respectively. This is Rhonda Vincent’s seventh week at #1, a position that she’s held since the album’s release on January 7. Blue Highway debuted at #2 last week, moving Dailey & Vincent to #3, while The SteelDrivers’ release from January 15 has stayed within the top 10 over the past 6 weeks.
With Good Thing Going, Rhonda Vincent presents a set of songs that range from timelessly straight-ahead bluegrass to effervescent swing and heartfelt ballads. The twelve tracks that make up Good Thing Going include five originals or co-writes, alongside a range of contemporary and classic cover tracks including a beautiful rendition of “The Water is Wide” with country superstar Keith Urban.
Blue Highway’s Through The Window Of A Train, the band’s eighth album, was released on February 12 and features 12 songs, all written or co-written by Blue Highway’s five accomplished songwriters whose songs have been recorded by bluegrass staples Ronnie Bowman, Mountain Heart, Ricky Skaggs, and others. Through The Window Of A Train showcases Blue Highway at their songwriting, instrumental, and vocal peak.
Released January 29, the self-titled debut of new bluegrass duo Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent features a broad spectrum of traditional bluegrass, country, and gospel sounds, unified by the duo’s breath-taking vocal strength and harmony as well as their virtuosic musicianship. While not related by blood, Dailey & Vincent invite favorable comparisons to the best in brother duo singing – the Stanley Brothers, the Osborne Brothers and Jim and Jesse.
On their national debut album of all original material, The SteelDrivers’ back-country high lonesome collides with Delta soul and is one of the most refreshing sounds to emerge from Nashville in a long time. Highly regarded behind the scenes as songsmiths and session players with innumerable hits, cuts and licks to their credit, this batch of seasoned pros has performed to sold out crowds from their inception almost two years ago.
No commentsDailey & Vincent still tearing up the charts
Nashville, Tenn. — Dailey & Vincent remain at #2 for a second consecutive week on Billboard’s Top Bluegrass Albums chart (Feb. 23 issue) with their self-titled debut on Rounder Records. Also in the February 23 issue, there is a feature story by Ken Tucker, “Vincent Siblings Make Bluegrass Chart History,” which verifies that this is the first time in the history of Billboard’s country and bluegrass charts that siblings (in this case Darrin Vincent and Rhonda Vincent) have held the two top spots.
At the same time, Dailey & Vincent watched their song “By the Mark” remain at #1 for the fourth consecutive week on the Count Down Yonder Weekly Top 17 Songs of SIRIUS Bluegrass.
The duo also had the dubious distinction of being part of Kansas City history on Sunday, when they were stranded at the airport during the longest closure in its 35-year history. The delay, caused by snow and ice, forced them to cancel their performance at the Joe Val Bluegrass Festival. “We’re so disappointed about missing our performance at Joe Val,” said Jamie Dailey. “It’s a great festival to be a part of, and we were really looking forward to seeing everyone there.”
Dailey & Vincent are currently featured in cover stories in Bluegrass Now (February) and Bluegrass Music Profiles (March/April), where their album is at #7 on the Top 10 Bluegrass CDs chart for February.
This weekend Dailey & Vincent will perform at Bluegrass First Class in Asheville, North Carolina (Feb. 22) and at the Gateway City Bluegrass Festival in St. Louis (Feb. 23). For additional information and touring updates, visit the Dailey & Vincent website or the groups Myspace page.
