Kindred Records Signs Label Deal with The Lawsons
Irvine, KY — Kindred Records has signed a record distribution deal with Bluegrass Gospel artists The Lawsons.
The new CD, “Shout It From The Highest Hill,” produced by Kellard and Melva Lawson, is scheduled for release on Kindred, January 20, 2009. The first single, “I Heard My Mother Call My Name In Prayer,” a traditional number with Larry Cordle sitting in, is due to be issued on Prime Cuts Of Bluegrass, Vol.95 in September.
“Shout It From The Highest Hill,” includes two original Lawson numbers, plus gospel tracks from Nuval Jackson, Joe Jackson, Dixie & Tom T. Hall, Ralph Stanley, and others. This CD marks the return of the Lawsons to the bluegrass gospel music playground since the early 1980’s. With band members Paul Smith, Mike Jackson, Joe Jackson, and Randy Stiltner, and additional significant vocal contributions by many of their close friends, including Ralph Stanley, David Parmley, Dale Perry, Larry Cordle, Charlie Sizemore, and Marty Rabon.
“Shout It From The Highest Hill,” was recorded at the well known Maggard Sound studios in Big Stone Gap, VA by Jim Price and Alan Maggard.
Kellard and Melva’s rich and heartfelt harmonies reveal many years of singing together as only brothers and sisters can develop together being brought up in a singing family. The Lawsons have historically performed at many venues, from Bean Blossom to Rupp Arena, hosted their own festival in Paintsville, KY at Doc Turners Farm, and shared stages with Bill Monroe, Loretta Lynn, Lester Flatt, Ralph Stanley, Jimmie Skinner, Doc Watson, and many others.
Kindred is pleased to add The Lawsons new project to its catalog of Kentucky artists, and they are looking for dates to fill their calendar. You can also find out more by visiting their new website at www.thelawsonsband.com for the latest news.

Kindred Records recently re-issued “Now That You Are Gone” from the Tommy Webb Band. Webb, who calls Floyd County Kentucky home, originally released the project independently and has also recently signed a deal with Kindred Records.
Kindred Records, based on fan response from the live shows, is now promoting the single “Hard Row To Hoe” from the album to Bluegrass Radio and Webcasters alike. Below is a video
“Perhaps the highlight of the album is a great performance of “Hard Row To Hoe,” a fine Jimmy Rushing song that was lost on one of Ricky Skaggs later country albums… this one’s a gem, as is the entire disc. What a pleasure to hear someone who sings it like he means it—tastefully and without pretensions or gimmicks.” E-FolkMusic
The Tommy Webb Band features Tommy Webb on guitar and occasional claw-hammer banjo, Chris Goble on banjo, Kenny O’Quinn on mandolin and guitar and Danny Stiltner on bass.
