August 8-9 — Bluegrass in the Park Folklife Festival- Henderson, KY.
Bluegrass artists scheduled to play include: The Biscuit Burners, King’s Highway, Chatham County Line, Blue Moon Rising, The Steeldrivers, Lonesome Standard Time and more. Admission to the festival is free.
Other activities include:

- An all you can eat “Breakfast in the Park” on Saturday, August 9 from 7:00 am - 10:00 am. Adults $6.50 - Children $4.00.

Maryland
August 7-9 — Lil’ Margaret’s Bluegrass & Old-Time Country Music Festival - Leonardtown, MD.
Bluegrass artists scheduled to perform include: Dan Paisley & Southern Grass, Bluegrass Brothers, Gold Wing Express, Beth Stevens & Edge, The Larkins Family, Carroll County Ramblers and more. A weekend festival pass is available at the gate for $50 with single day tickets for $15 (Thurs) and $25 (Fri & Sat). Camping with hookups for the weekend is available for $45 with a limited amount of spaces. Primitive camping is $15 for the weekend.
Minnesota
August 7-10 — Minnesota Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Festival - Richmond, MN.
Bluegrass artists slated to perform include: Mountain Heart, Grasstowne, Cadillac Sky, The Dirk Powell Band, Balfa Toujours, Mike Seeger, The Stairwell Sisters, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, Monroe Crossing, Sawtooth Bluegrass Band, The DitchLilies, Poor Benny, Ivory Bridge, Morgans Run, The Bag O’Dirt Band, Bill & Kate Isles, Brennen Leigh, and The Roe Family Singers. A four-day festival pass, available at the gate, will run $85 and single day tickets range in price from $20 to $30 depending on the day. Other combo day passes are available. New York
August 8-10 — Top of the Hill Bluegrass Festival - Canisteo, NY
Bluegrass artist scheduled to perform include: The Doerful Family, Smokey Greene, Black Diamond Bluegrass, Bristol Mountain Bluegrass, Ray London and more. The festival also features an Antique Car Show on Saturday along with Hay Rides and kids games all weekend. Daily tickets are priced at $10 (Fri & Sun) and $20 for Sat.
Ohio
August 7-9 — Lonesome Acres Park Bluegrass Festival - Miamisburg, OH.
Bluegrass bands scheduled to perform include: Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, Vince Combs and Shadetree Bluegrass, Bluegrass Strangers, Tommy Brown & Countyline Grass, Red Spurlock, Greg (Spanky) Moore Band and more. Flat Rock Fall Festival announces September lineup
The Flat Rock Music Festival has announced the lineup for their upcoming September (26-28) festival in Flat Rock, NC. Bluegrass Artists on the bill include: Missy Raines and The New Hip, The SteelDrivers, The Biscuit Burners and Dehlia Low. Other Notables playing Flat Rock include Slide guitar virtuoso, Sonny Landreth, Sarah White, Seth Walker and The Iguanas.
The festival’s organizers have also made some “changes in the staff, campground and over all processes” to improve this year’s Flat Rock Festival experience.
Bluegrass Festival and Events Calendar
May 29 - Jun 1 — Preston Bluegrass Festival - Preston, CT. Artists scheduled to perform include Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, The Grascals, Dry Branch Fire Squad, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Tony Trischka, The Greencards, Karl Shiflett & Big Country, Dale Ann Bradley, The Gibson Brothers and more. The Festival will also feature the Strawberry Park Bluegrass Festival Kids Academy offering kids, age 8-18, instruction on the following instruments: guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo and bass, and also in vocals.
May 30 - Jun 1 — Minnesota Homegrown Kickoff in Richmond, MN offers a “three-day outdoor music & camping festival with stage shows by more than twenty regional performers of traditional bluegrass, old-time stringband, and related forms of acoustic music. Plus workshops, the Gathering Place, and plenty of campground jam sessions.” The festival is put on by the Minnesota Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Association.

Things are on the move for Monroe Crossing, which bills itself as “Minnesota’s Bluegrass Ambassadors.”
The band has been inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame and is promoting its latest CD, “Live From Silver Dollar City.”
The group was inducted into the Minnesota Hall in November, along with four other musical acts representing genres from polka to pop.
“Live from Silver Dollar City” was recorded in May and June 2007 during performances by the band at the Riverfront Playhouse in Silver Dollar City, a popular tourist attraction just outside Branson, Mo. All the tracks were songs the audience requested during four days of performances at the theater.

Members of the band are Lisa Fuglie on fiddle and vocals; Art Blackburn on guitar and vocals; Matt Thompson on mandolin, vocals and second fiddle; banjo picker Benji Flaming: and bass player Mark Anderson.
The group is compiling a hefty touring schedule, which includes a June 18 stop at the Bill Monroe Memorial Bluegrass Festival in Bean Blossom, Ind., and the band’s third time aboard the annual Bell Buckle Music Cruise hosted by Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike. The cruise is slated for January 2009 with Mexico as its main destination.
