July 12-13 — Common Ground on the Hill Roots Music and Arts Festival - Westminster, MD. Artists scheduled to appear include: D. C. Bluegrass Union, Eastman String Band, The Nashville Bluegrass band, The Fairfield Four.
Nevada
July 11-13 — Bluegrass on the Comstock - Miner’s Park, Virginia City, NV. Artist on the schedule include: Sawmill Road, Bound to Ride, the Dalton Mountain Gang, Wild Horse Drive and more. Tickets are listed at $20 (Sat) and $15 (Sun.) or $30 dollars for a festival pass.
North Carolina
July 11-12 — Coot Williams Road Bluegrass Festival - Cherryville, NC. Bluegrass artists scheduled to perform include: Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, Nothin’ Fancy, Williams & Clark Expedition, Counterpoint, Drive South, Full Throttle and more. Cindy Baucom from “Knee Deep in Bluegrass” radio show will emcee. Single day tickets are $18 (Fri) and $25 (Sat) or a 2 day pass is $37 with children 12 and under free with paid adult.
July 11-13 — Music Fest ‘n Sugar Grove - Sugar Grove, NC. Bluegrass artists scheduled to perform include: The Kruger Brothers, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Cadillac Sky, Back Porch Bluegrass, and many more. Tickets for the festival will be available at the gate.
Oregon
July 12 — Troutdale Bite & Bluegrass Festival - Troutdale, OR. Artists scheduled to appear include: Lee Highway, Prairie Flyer, Ida Viper and the Bluegrass Youth Band. The Festival also features a 4 hour “Youth Grass Workshop” open to all youth 18 and under.
Pennsylvania
July 11-12 — Remington Ryde Bluegrass Festival - Reedsville, PA. Bluegrass Artists scheduled for the lineup include: the James King Band, Carolina Road, Remington Ryde, Lykens Valley Bluegrass, Texas Rose and more. Tickets are $15 (Fri.) and $25 (Sat.) or a festival pass is available for $40.
Tennessee
July 11-13 — Uncle Dave Macon Days - Murfreesboro, TN. In addition to several instument and dance contests, Uncle Dave Macon Days will present Bobby Osborne with the 2008 Uncle Dave Macon Heritage Award at 5:00 P.M. on Saturday.
No commentsWhite, Compton and Bouska holding Oregon Mandolin Workshop
Pickers in the Northwest might be interested in honing their mandolin and guitar skills in May when Roland White, Diane Bouska and Mike Compton present workshops and a concert at The Humane Society of Redmond Event Center in Redmond, Ore.
White will present a beginning mandolin class and his wife, Bouska, will teach a class on playing bluegrass rhythm guitar. Compton will give mandolin instruction for intermediate to advanced players.
The workshop leaders will present a concert on May 2 and lead the workshops on May 3 and 4.
The workshops will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. The student fee of $135 does not include lodging, but lunch and dinner will be provided on Saturday.
