Here’s a reminder of something special and definitely worthwhile — and something BluegrassJournal.com wholeheartedly endorses. The Friends of Eddie and Martha Adcock are hosting a benefit show at the Station Inn in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday (Oct. 25).

You may have heard about banjo great and bluegrass patriarch Eddie Adcock’s history-making brain surgery in 2008, while playing his banjo in order to guide the doctors to the area which would correct his incapacitating right hand tremors, but the story of the Eddie and Martha Adcocks’ loss of normal workload–and therefore income– didn’t stop there, even with the success of the ground-breaking surgery….

Fred Robbins historic bluegrass festival pictures

Fred Robbins name may be familiar to some of you. Especially if you’re a die hard Bluegrass Unlimited fanatic. Fred has penned a couple of articles for Bluegrass Unlimited over the years, most notably a story about Fincastle 1966 Bluegrass Festival that appeared in the May 2003 edition.

Fred has also assembled a great collection of historic photo’s that he shot through the years. Recently he began scanning them into the computer and has painstakingly cleaned them up. Images in Fred’s collection include the 1972 Country Gentleman Indian Ranch Bluegrass Festival,…

Skaggs to re-issue his 1980s hit albums

Here’s some good news for Ricky Skaggs fans who have followed his career for the past couple of decades.

His Skaggs Family Records label is poised to launch the first in a series of Skaggs’ landmark country albums from the 1980s, when the artist was consistently riding the top of the charts with his blend of bluegrass and country music.
