Walnut Valley Festival to feature 2008 Winner’s Concert on Wednesday

Winfield, Kan., — A large part of the annual Walnut Valley Festival is made up of eight different acoustic instrument championships. The contests consist of 2 international, 4 national and two Walnut Valley championships for numerous stringed acoustic instruments including the guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, autoharp and both hammer and mountain dulcimers. Each year musicians travel to Winfield to test their skills against some of the world’s top players of their chosen instruments….

Winfield, Kansas — The 38th annual Walnut Valley Festival is scheduled to take place this fall at the Winfield Fairgrounds. Each year acoustic music fans come from around the world to experience what festival regulars have come to love. Locals still call it bluegrass, though it is much more than just bluegrass music, musicians often call it Winfield. Bobby Osborne to be Bluegrass Week’s ‘guest master artist’
